We are always pleased to be offered good collections or individual books.

 

Subjects of particular interest include: literary fiction, history, archaeology, travel, poetry, music, literary criticism, cinema,

science, mathematics, natural history, food & drink, chess, classic childrens, medieval literature, greek & roman authors, Folio Society editions,

philosophy, psychology, politics, language, linguistics, mythology, folklore, ghosts & witchcraft, religion, cultural studies.

 

We do not buy encyclopedias, out-of-date computer or technical books, contemporary royalty, book club books (Readers Union, Reprint Society, Companion Book Club, &c), cheap editions (Ted Smart, &c), paperbacks with creased spines or other books in less than very good condition (unless they are really old, i.e. pre-1700). Postwar hardbacks should have their dust-jackets if they were issued with them.

 

For very small collections of up to 10 books, we can offer an opinion any time that we are open, but always recommend leaving them with us for a few days for assessment so that we can make a fair offer.

 

For larger collections, please send a few photos so that we can assess the quantity, condition and titles.  Photos of books on shelves, showing spines, are ideal.  Please do not sent multiple photos of individual books.  We will recommend the best options for selling books and, depending on quantity and interest, help make arrangements for delivery.  For large collections in Essex and south Suffolk we can make house calls.
